The Central Virginia Rotary Club has had a remarkable 16 months, despite the pandemic. Ray Thomas, the club's secretary, was awarded the Rotarian of the Year award by Cindy Pecht in recognition of his dedication to the club. The club has been able to make a difference in the community by creating a grant that will provide full scholarships to students from community colleges. It is also helping more adoptive young people in Virginia to pursue and complete higher education through the Great Expectations program.
Additionally, it is leading a partnership to improve the educational offer of rural Virginia through the Horseshoe Initiative. The Lawrenceville Rotary Club meets every Thursday at noon at the Elm Acres Community Center in Lawrenceville, Virginia, and guests are welcome.
